A relatively new find in the gem world, Midnight Lace Obsidian is a rare, transparent variety of Obsidian, often black and clear striped or resembling Smokey Quartz when hit with light. It's been found in the Caucasian Mountains of Armenia, eastern Europe and Oregon, USA. While it encompasses all the same properties of traditional Black Obsidian, it's also believed to help stimulate psychic abilities and cleanse the aura. An excellent psychic protection crystal.

Through the ages, Black Obsidian has been used to connect the spiritual world to the physical one and is popular in many communities across the globe for its metaphysical properties. It is formed when a volcano erupts and the lava cools very quickly. Also known as Volcanic glass, xaga, and royal agate because of its depth of colour.
