Garnet is a powerful energising and regenerative stone. It balances, strengthens and protects. Legends and folklore place Garnet among the most ancient of talismans. Not only was it prized as an ornamental jewel, but its strong curative powers and protective energies made it invaluable. It is also known for its utilisation of creative energy. It grounds spirit forces within the body and helps in the ability to work lovingly on the physical plane. Yet Garnet is a sensual stone. It represents primordial fire, the creation of the world out of chaos, purification and love. It is a stone of strong, intense feelings.

Garnet was used in the former Czechoslovakia as far back as the Bronze Age, and in Egypt more than five thousand years ago. It was used in Sumeria around 2100 B.C. and in Sweden between 1000 and 2000 B.C. It was also popular in ancient Greek and Roman civilisations. According to the Talmud, the only light on Noah's ark was provided by a large Garnet. In Europe during the Middle Ages, it was used to enhance truth, faith and constancy, and to dispel melancholy. As a Warrior's Stone, it served as a talisman in the Crusades for both the Christians and their Muslim enemies. Garnet is said to have been one of the twelve stones in the Breastplate of the High Priest, and has been used as a sacred stone by the Native American Indians, the South American Indians, the Aztecs, the African tribal elders and the Mayans. It acts with speed to expand one's awareness due to the flash of lightning contained within, and enhances one's internal fire to bring creative powers to implementation.

White Moonstone has enchanted civilisations for millennia with its aura of mystery and its ethereal beauty. Believed to be intimately connected to the moon, many cultures viewed White Moonstone as a very feminine and woman-centred stone. In Eastern cultures, "lighted" gems, such as Moonstone, indicated good luck. The ever-changing, white reflections on its surface, which gemoligists call adularescence, seemed to suggest a powerful, good spirit dwelled within. It has been used as a stone of protection for travelling at night, voyaging at sea, childbirth and pregnancy. And some believe it can bring relief from menstrual problems, prevent water retention, cleanse the digestive system and reduce obesity. The Romans associated the meaning of this stone with the goddess Diana, and they believed that it was actually made from solidified rays of the moon. In Hindu tradition, it is often seen as a crystal of love and feminie ideals, and women in Arab countries sometimes sew it into clothing for help with fertility.

The primary White Moonstone meaning is all about connecting to the amazing energy of the moon and all the healing that it can bring. By attaching to the moon's unique healing potential, you can receive a better understanding of the natural ebb and flow of life. This crystal is sometimes referred to as the Traveller's Stone, Fish Eye, Wolf Eye and the Stone of Destiny. No matter what you call it, White Moonstone is a stone that you'll want as a constant partner on your healing journey. Just like the way the ocean and other bodies of water are so fundamentally tied to the moon, the properties of this stone have the ability to make you more comfortable around water and all its healing potential.
